A robe is one of the basic medieval garments, worn by members of various social classes. It was characterized by a simple, long cut, often fitted at the top and flared towards the bottom, ensuring freedom of movement and an elegant appearance.
The robe is made of wool, with a linen lining. The robe has a collar, fastened with up to 18 buttons at the front and 7 buttons on the sleeves. The buttons are broken at the waistband, or we can sew buttons in pairs, with regular spacing, as shown in the iconography (let us know in the comments if we should change this).
Tin or cloth buttons are standard. Machine sewn, buttonholes finished by hand.
Dating: 14th-15th century
Mini-parti robe available (please specify the second color and the color division in the order comments), as well as a selection of other wools from the Woolsome catalog.

Robes and houppelandes are among the most distinctive elements of medieval fashion. The robe was a long, loose-fitting garment worn by both women and men, forming the basis of many historical reenactments. Its design evolved over the centuries – from the simple forms of the 13th century to the richly pleated and decorated versions of the Late Middle Ages.
The houppelande, popular in the 14th and 15th centuries, symbolized luxury and social status. It was characterized by wide sleeves, a generous cut, and deep pleats, often trimmed with fur or embellishments. Today, these garments inspire historical reenactment enthusiasts, reflecting the extraordinary artistry and elegance of medieval fashion.
