In medieval times, medieval padded armor, such as gambesons, was widely used, especially by people of lower social status. For the poor, it was often the only form of protection, while wealthier infantry and knights used it as an additional layer of padding under their armor and other combat gear. Initially, medieval undergarment armor like gambesons had a rather simple cut, but over time, they underwent numerous modifications. By the 14th century, they became shorter and more fitted to the body. In the late medieval period, padded clothing, including gambesons, became common in everyday wear.

Our medieval padded armor consists of:

  • A linen outer layer that ensures durability and comfort,
  • A linen inner lining,
  • Linen reinforcement beneath the outer layer,
  • Natural wool filling, providing insulation and comfort.

We recommend this gambeson for historical reconstructions, LARP events, battles, and other history-related activities. Thanks to the use of natural materials such as wool and linen, it offers exceptional durability and comfort.

As a standard, the gambeson features one layer of filling across the entire body and sleeves, as well as an additional layer on the chest, hips, shoulders, spine, lower back, biceps, elbows, and forearms. To ensure freedom of movement, the sleeves under the arms and at the elbow joints are left unpadded. Additionally, to improve mobility, we offer free insertion of an elliptical gusset under the arm, which further enhances the comfort of wearing the medieval padded armor and movement (please indicate this option in the order comments).

Thanks to being crafted from the highest-quality materials, this gambeson is not only functional but also incredibly comfortable for long hours of wear.

The ability to personalize the color, accessories, and layers ensures that each product can be tailored to individual needs.
