Men-upper garment, tightfitting. In standard implementation closed with 20 buttons. It's quite short for medieval clothing. This is caused by the so-called passageway fashion.

It is cut from four parts plus sleeves. This particular model has short sleeves called "dogs ears" and is worn over doublet. Made of wool with linen lining.
